Instagram is an amazing marketing tool for many brands. Instagram has over 1 billion monthly users (BTW, that’s more than Twitter!).

If you are new to Instagram, or maybe you’ve never embraced its power – no problemo!

Here are some key tips to help you jazz up (and optimize) your brand’s Instagram feed:

Set up your business Instagram account.

If you want to use Instagram for a business you need an account that’s separate from your personal account.

Include links to drive traffic to your website.

Your bio is the one place where you can directly lead a visitor over to your website. At the top of your Instagram page (under your name and description) you’ll want to include a link to your online shop, a targeted landing page, or to your website.

Create posts that users want to follow.

90% of information that is successfully transmitted into our brain is visual. That’s what makes Instagram such a powerful marketing platform.

Using static images, motion graphics, and videos that connect with your audience is the only way to gain followers.

Correctly size all photos.

It’s not enough to just share images…it’s critical that you share images that are professional and sized correctly.

Instagram will automatically crop your images to a square 612 x 612 pixels. For ultimate quality and crispness, create your images 1024 x 1024 pixels.

Use Instagram’s editing tools to stand out.

There are roughly 95 million photos posted on Instagram every day by their users. If you want your brand to stand out then you need to be sharing images that stand out (I like to call them “scroll stopping” images).

Creating professional photos is key, but, what do you do with images you’ve taken on your phone? Use Instagram’s in-app filters to enhance your photos!

According to TrackMaven, Mayfair brings in the most interactions per 1,000 followers on average.

Consistently create and post engaging content.

Like all social networks, your Instagram feeds needs new fresh content all the time. Coming up with creative post ideas can be a challenge. Here are a few ideas to get your juices flowing:

  • Quote posts are quite popular and highly shareable.
  • News posts are informative and shared quite a bit as well.
  • Users love statistics (especially one’s that prove their point-of-view).
  • Everyone loves a good laugh! Users love, love, love Gifs, and memes.
  • Promote your products through how-to motion videos.
  • Tell a story using motion graphics.
  • Ask questions to engage your audience.

There are endless ideas on content you can post to engage your audience on Instagram! Don’t get stuck in a routine – keep your mind fresh and open to new ideas. Instead of vegging out on the couch at night, browse around Instagram to get some inspiration.
